When Giulia came for her second session I had the barest plan in mind. Rather than direct her, I asked her to just move. And did she ever move. After warming up on the studio’s brass pole she put her music on and flowed through the studio while I tried to keep up.

It seems easy but when she’s freewheeling in every direction, randomly moving slowly or with electric swiftness, it was all I could do to press the shutter and hope I was even close to the right moment. There was just so much happening the whole time.

But in the end, I think we achieved way more than we dared hope.
