Intro

I'm NFG,* a photographer based in Brisbane, Australia. I specialize in action photography – gymnasts, dancers and athletes of all kinds. I've been honing my photographic skills since 1995, been shooting in Brisbane since 2005, and I quit my day job in favour of this lunatic profession in 2011.

I have a small studio on the west side of Brisbane. It’s large enough for a troupe, a team, a group or even a flock. It has a 45mm spinning brass pole for the pole dancing, and a special ceiling beam from which aerial, circus and other apparatus can be hung.

You can come to me, or I can come to you. Rates can be negotiated by the time, the job, or per person.

I am your all singin’ all dancin’ photo guy!**

* NFG has a real name, but most people call him NFG.

** NFG does not sing or dance.

Clicken!

An attempt was made to sort them, but how to you classify a weight-lifting dancer? Is a pole dancer doing floorwork filed under 'pole' or 'athlete'? It doesn't work very well, so I didn't bother. I just didn't want to make a distinction between a beautiful body doing one thing, and a beautiful body doing something else.

The Blog

New for 2018, the NFGphoto blog is a constantly updated deep-dive into NFGphoto's shoots and projects. There's more photos more often on the blog than anywhere else on the internet.

It's full of the nitty gritty, from editing tricks, before-and-after explanations, behind the scenes and a lot more.

Please do check it out!

Please note! The best way to contact NFG, because email has become so unreliable, is Instagram or Signal (NFG.01).

Pantheon Information

The Pantheon Project

So you've seen the Pantheon Project and you're going to volunteer your awesome body. That's great!

The Pantheon Project shoots are a lot like normal shoots, with a few twists. In short, here's what you should know:

It's a Nude Thing

No surprises. You'll be naked shortly after arriving at the studio. For a lot of people, this is a new experience, and it'll be really weird and awkward for about three minutes. After that, it's just gettin' on with the task at hand, and most people soon forget they're not wearing clothes.

What to Wear

To the greatest extent possible, please don't wear underwear on your way to the session. If you do, wear the loosest garments you have. Normal underwear leaves lines and marks on the body that can take a long time to fade, and your lazy photographer doesn't want to spend a lot of time photoshopping them out.

The same goes with your clothes. Don't wear tight jeans or a corset, it's just going to mean an extra hour of non-shooting time, talking about the weather while the lines fade slowly, ever so slowly away.

There's not much more to this sort of shoot. You might consider getting a tan, and you'll certainly want to think about your face and hair. It's up to you to decide how you want to look, but certainly you will want to think about that and take any appropriate action.

There'll be space and time to stretch and warm up if you need to.

Consider Props

There are four main themes to the project. Standing full body, close-up crop, mostly anonymous crop, and the representative pose.

That last one is sort of an action shot that suggests the specific effort that went into creating your body. Maybe it's a bit of pole play, or holding a soccer ball, or lifting a plate, etc. The NFGstudio has a pole, but if you can think of something reasonably small that might be useful or fun, either surprise NFG with it on the day, or discuss it before coming over.

There's a Model Release

You can fill it out in advance or when you get here. It mostly covers two things: permission to show your images, and how you want to be identified and tagged (or not). It's pretty straightforward, and you're welcome to discuss it with NFG before signing anything.

Preferably before shooting anything too. If we do a shoot and then you decide, hmm, never mind, NFG is going to leave you a scathing review.

The Shoot & the Images

Expect everything to take about 90 minutes. It might be less, it might be more, but not by a lot.

When it's done, low-res proofs will be put online in a gallery. These are free for you to keep and share (with conditions). You'll also get two high-res edited shots of your choice to keep. Simply pick them from the proofs gallery and let NFG know which ones you've selected. Normally the proofs will be available in 24 hours, the edited shots a few days after you pick 'em.

Please note that both the proofs and finished images will only be online for a limited time. Neither the proofs nor the finished images will ever be deleted, NFG keeps them forever, (backed up in three places!) but they will not be available online for more than 30 days. If you lose them and need another copy, NFG will probably have them if you ask. (Apologies in advance if weevils eat the hard drives or whatever, sometimes things happen and if you lose your images NFG can't guarantee they can be replaced).

How to Get Here

The NFGstudio is conveniently located near three major freeways and the Ipswich train line. When you arrive for your session, please park on the street in front of the NFGhouse. Come straight through to the blue studio door in the back yard. The address is:

3 Hendren CT, Goodna

Other Stuff

There's some generic shoot information right here. You might want to cast a quick eye over it, see if there's anything else you want to bring (water, a snack, etc). This shoot won't be as intensive as a normal shoot might, but there could still be some useful hints.

Finally

Photography is not perfect. Sometimes things go wrong, sometimes the photographer goes wrong. In every shoot there are bound to be shots that are blurry or bad in ways that cannot be fixed. If and when this happens, NFG is very, very sorry.

Like, really sorry.

But, sadly, nothing can be done. NFG appreciates your understanding, and he's very sorry.

It's going to be awesome. Thanks for signing up. ^_^

Got it!
