But still, it took up to five minutes for every easy shot, and the one we&#8217;re discussing in this post was not the easy one.  <\/p>\n<p>In the end, I had a wobbly series of adaptors holding the camera on the end of a boom arm above the couch-thing, tethered to the laptop so we could see how the test shots were working (rather than, you know, climb up the ladder and lean way over to see the back of the camera).  Once we&#8217;d dialed in the framing and exposure, I hid out of the shot with the petal release in one hand and the camera trigger in the other, and managed to fire &#8217;em both off in the right order.<\/p>\n<p>Petals fell, camera clicked, and then the <i>other<\/i> time consuming part began: editing the image.<\/p>\n<p>In order to get a proper distribution of petals I&#8217;d always had it in mind that I would stack several images together add or remove petals as required. It took us a while to work out a method for dropping them, and we&#8217;ve got a few pages of sketches to attest to the difficulty.  And even when we worked out how to hang the petals, there was still a risk.
