I feel a bit like I let the model down for this session. My ideas didn’t really pan out. I liked the extra spatter of wax more than I liked the pattern I was trying to create.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And so I gave up on the designed<\/i> component and went for a less structured random approach. Parts of this I really like.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But it was a struggle. I couldn’t really find an angle I really liked, and I’m still trying to work out what I should have done differently.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I sort of liked the way this looked when I rotated it 90\u00b0. It takes on a sort of alien sun\/landscape appearance:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And then of course I went full Moon Patrol. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It’s been a couple of weeks and I like these images more now than I did then. It’s sort of giving me this funny Froot Loops vibe. Which is cool, but I still feel like I didn’t get all the way to where I wanted to be.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

And that just kills me. It’s very frustrating to have an opportunity to do something intensely cool like this, with such a wonderful volunteer, and not knock it out of the park.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But, as a bonus, I put some Zaxxon sprites on this one, and it makes me giggle.<\/p>\n

Now, 3 years later, here are two bonus images. The first is Elara’s skin in normal light, and the second is the floor after we scraped all the wax off her. ^__^<\/p>\n

You might remember a shoot recently, where I covered Mel with wax<\/a>. That was a spectactularly great wax shoot, and it inspired Elara to come into the studio with a box of fluorescent candles.<\/p>\n

I never want to do the same thing twice, so I thought we’d try a different pattern to start. But I’m not a designer, and the V pattern didn’t really work for me.<\/p>\n
