This model was much happier with this shot. Again, quite a lot of work involved in filling the background, but obviously a lot less than the last one (thank fuck). <\/p>\n

Quite honestly, filling in the background is one of my top three time sinks, and when there’s a lot of it to do, it’s by far<\/i> the most time consuming part of my workflow. I just don’t know a quick way to do it.<\/p>\n

This one was never going to get filled in, the low-down angle meant that the amount of studio in the frame was way more than half of the image, and … ahem. Fuck that.<\/i><\/p>\n

There’s a real art to fisheye images. One of the main criteria is crotch<\/i>. Because there is a strong need to have a limb extending toward the camera, and it’s often a leg, there’s a real risk that the camera’s just aimed at a crotch, and that has a real impact on the rest of the image. Great if that’s the point, but it rarely is.<\/p>\n

This shot of Sherry worked exceptionally well because of her extended leg, and hand placement. <\/p>\n

This next one is unusual for several reasons. I whipped this up after writing everything above, and I remembered one of my editing apps has a thing and maybe… So I did it. This was a massively faster background fill, and I missed a couple of spots, and it only worked at all because the background was remarkably uniform in its brightness. And honestly I’m not sure I like it. It lacks texture and seems… lesser, without its context. But it was quick! Even considering I had to learn the new app, and read up on the feature, it was maybe half an hour’s work instead of an hour…<\/p>\n

Many years ago I bought the cheap and cheerful 10-17mm Fisheye lens from Tokina, and I love the crap out of it. But, since going pro, I rarely get a chance to use it. Lately I’ve been busting it out a little more often and I still love the zany craziness it imbues in every image.<\/p>\n

This is the most recent, and while I think it’s great, the model was quite creeped out by what she described as an exorcist vibe<\/i>. I see it, but I don’t mind it. =D<\/p>\n

Here’s a before and after. The amount of work I have to put in to every fisheye shot is really annoying.
